America is known as the land of the free, but unless you were a white and wealthy male, you haven’t always had those freedoms. Women have been fighting for their rights and equality for hundreds of years and still are today. In the fifth grade common core, students learn the changing roles of women (and minorities) on American society from Pre-colonial through reconstruction. Being a woman, and a future teacher, I feel that it is important for me to know and appreciate how women's rights have changed over time. Before this project, I did not know very much about women's rights or even realize how women's rights are being effected today. I have learned a lot about women's history and look forward to teaching it in my future classroom.
